We now have over £110,000 committed to our community broadband project.  “Thank you” to everyone who has supported the project with investments, commitments to subscribe and offers to help build the network once we get under way.

We are incredibly close to the £120,000 lower threshold set out in the original offer document and, given the level of interest in the project and the repeated questions about when we will start building the network, the Directors and Committee have reviewed the proposals based on a minimum capital investment of £100,000.

We’ve worked very hard on updating the network designs and negotiating with our key suppliers to achieve as much as possible with the investment that has been made.  This means that, starting with a hybrid fibre and high performance wireless network, we can still offer a 100Mbps symmetrical connection to every property in Fiskerton and Morton, and build a network which is capable of delivering 100% fibre to every property.  The final connection by fibre will then be put in place as the finances allow.

The revised offer document can be found here:

Along with the more detailed business plan:

We continue to accept investments as this will allow us to build the fibre optic network more quickly.  Please keep encouraging your friends and neighbours to get involved and support the plans. As a Community Benefit Society any profit is reinvested in the villages.

Remember 50% of your investment may be recovered against income tax

Investments can be made:

  • by completing an application form and sending this to us with a cheque (We get 100% of your investment this way), or
  • through the Microgenius web site which is operated by the Community Shares Unit.  (Please note that the Microgenius site currently only shows investments that have been made on-line.  We have received a lot of off-line commitments so please keep an eye on this page to see just how close to our target we are)
