If I move from my existing broadband provider can I keep my existing email address?
That depends on who provides your email service at the moment.
- If you use a free service, such as Gmail or Outlook then you don’t need to change anything.
- If your email address is provided by your existing Internet Service Provider (eg. BT, Talk Talk, Sky) then it is unlikely that you will be able to keep your existing email address once you stop paying them for your broadband connection (although we know of cases where they have not cancelled the email this cannot be guaranteed!) It would be worth contacting them to find out as we do not know the position of every company.
If you do need to change your email address then we recommend signing up for one of the free services such as Gmail or Outlook (see below) as soon as possible. This will give you plenty of time to update your details with any organisations that have your old email address.
Will F4RN be providing email addresses?
No. As a Community Organisation we need to keep costs and bureaucracy to a minimum. Unfortunately this means that we will not be in a position to supply email addresses.
However there are plenty free email services that you can use – the most popular are Gmail (from Google www.gmail.com) and and Outlook (from Microsoft www.outlook.com)
